During an annual safety inspection, the Midas technician improperly diagnosed residual power steering fluid as a leaking power steering rack, failed the vehicle and quoted $1200.00 to replace it. After cleaning the part and inspecting it over a week I determined that the diagnosis was wrong. Upon reinspection (free), the car received a passing grade. A rookie mistake.

Hard to write a glowing review when, during an annual inspection, your long time faithful car fails inspection for a fatal flaw.

I've been bringing my older Honda CR-V (2006, 320K+ miles) to this particular Midas for a few years now. They never fail to tell me just what I NEED, not what they want to sell me. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. I recently brought my car in for a Check Engine light (right as I was due for inspection). I was desperate and they could have sold me a lot of repairs, but they were honest and upfront and I was on my way with a new inspection sticker and no Check Engine light within 24 hours and for WAAAAY less $$ than I had anticipated! Thanks Concord Midas for giving my old car another year (hopefully) of faithful service!

Review was submitted a few days ago. The service on the exhaust was completed but damage was done to the transmission shield and not reported; it was just left. Even when I returned to the shop to investigate a new "vibration" the inspection did not result in a detection of the true problem - 2 of the 3 bolts that held the shield in place on the driver's side were sheered off during the initial repair. Two people looked over the work that had been done and neither detected (or failed to mention) the loose transmission support. Their conclusion was that the vibration would go away after the new transmission support wore in. That probably would not have happened had the 3rd bolt failed and the transmission failed. This condition was verified by a separate service center. They also noted that the new muffler was louder than it should be and was probably defective. I will NOT be returning it to Midas for a refund or any other reason.
Even though I have been a loyal Midas customer for years and have sent significant business their way, as a result of this poor quality work and inept inspection, I will not return to Midas for any work on any of my vehicles and will broadcast to those that I have previously recommended to Midas to be aware of the poor quality of work done there.

To replace the muffler and front flange the transmission shield had to be removed. 6 bolts hold it in place. At least 2 of the 6 (2 of 3 on the driver's side) sheered off the nut inside the frame during the process. This was verified when I took the vehicle to another local service center. There is a danger of remaining shield bolt failing and the transmission lowering causing damage while driving. I find it very sad that when I returned to Midas after the service to ask about a new vibration (now I believe it was probably caused by the loosened heat shield), the shield was inspected and the only input was that the transmission mount was new and the vibration would be around until it wore in. Two people did the visual inspection and neither noted the loose shield with the loose nut bolt combination . The original mechanic should have said that the two nuts sheered off but no mention was made of this. I find it very poor quality work when a problem IS KNOWN and not reported, especially a problem as severe as this one. The POOR rating is based on this failure to report the problem and the failure of the inspection to note such an obvious problem. I will pay the local repair service to resolve this problem. Based on this service, Midas does not deserve my business due to lack of quality control and poor workmanship.

Over the past 10 years or so I have had significant work done at Midas and have recommended others to Midas. That has now come to an end. I will NOT return to MIdas for any work on either of my vehicles and will relate this devastating event to anyone that I had previously referred.
