Question: P0402 Error
i have a 2000 ford taurus 3.0L OHV (pushrod) engine. i am encountering almost violent forward urges while stopped in drive, almost as if the car is attmempting to shift into a gear while i am currentlt stopped. if i shift into nuetral the engine idles slightly higher than if i was stopped in drive, but does not have that forward urging. i took the vehicle to autozone and got a free check engine diagnosis and the machine returned a p0402 error and said that it was def the EGR vavle and possibly some sensor. so i got home and took my EGR valve off and it looks dirty and im not sure if im getting full range of motion but it looks physically ok. i read some posts and saw that this could be a common problem that could not be related to my EGR valve. do you have any information that would help? is this a common problem with this year/engine taurus? should i replace the EGR ($40 not a big deal...)? or is there another problem that is causing this almost violent "forward urging"?
