Question: 99 Mazda 626 tranmission slipping

Bought a 99 Mazda 626 last year. Now the transmission is slipping badly. If the car is shut off and restarted, the transmission will work for a few minutes before slipping again. Probably a coincidence but the alternater was replaced just before the slipping started. Any ideas what the problen could be??

One possible cause maybe the transmission range sensor might have gone bad. Since, the transmission starts slipping after few minutes, it might indicate overheating (which is common with the CD4E transmission used in Mazda 626). Try installing a Transmission cooler. It will significantly help in reducing the wear of the transmission components.
